Our new two-storey relocatable facility for United Oilfield Services and Lane Energy is a technical mobile and self-sufficient fly camp meant to serve at shale gas and oil rigs. This project will be taking part in the annual Modular Building Institute competition in USA, 2014. UOS is an oilfield service company which has recently expanded to Europe and currently holds great potential in fracking and drilling on the continent. Meeting the current demand for state-of-the-art modular buildings in the industry expanding in Poland, it is a self-existing multi-functional and complete area, built of recycled 40 ft. converted first trip metal sea containers and wooden construction units. The total amount of 18 cabins, of which 11 are wooden VIP containers on metal skids and 7 Premium 40ft. converted sea containers. The facility with all media installations which serve a modern rig consists of fully-equipped air-conditioned accommodation units, a commercial laundry, drying and changing room, dining area, offices, sanitary and technical units.

What constitutes for innovation is combining two kinds of structures i.e. bigger VIP wooden units on skids piled up on the Premium converted sea containers both with landings and staircases. Also, water and sewage installation service is an innovation element within this camp, i.e. two water and sewage service system tanks are set within one module. Assembly is on ground, thus it is not necessary to install tanks underground. Moreover, the camp is equipped with specialized technical units i.e. workshops, storage facilities equipped with chain operated cranes which is quite a unique element as far as container storage space is concerned. The fly camp is structurally, mechanically and electrically prepared for easy and rapid connection and erection. The entire facility is structurally supported on steel frame, which serves a permanent foundation for the facility. The modules were designed on the basis of regular sea containers maintaining their exterior dimensions with international heavy truck transport functionality. What minimizes limited surface problems  at rig-sites is the fact that the units are stackable, they may be attached to other previously existing shacks as multiple storeys and are compatible with other cabins including skid types.
